With summer break in sight, working moms everywhere are making their summer nanny plans. Calling college girls, budgeting childcare funds, and reserving kid camp weeks. Most of us working moms love our jobs. But all of us love our kids more.
It’s tough receiving fun summer kid pics texts from your nanny while you sit in your board meeting wearing a pencil skirt. Maybe that’s a little over traditionalizing it, but I know you’ve felt the same twinge I have when you leave a crying child in someone else’s care so you can get to the office on time.
Working moms are strong women. We know how to juggle demands from home, demands from career, and demands of our community. And most women in 2019 are proud contributors to their families monthly income.
But working moms are also strategic women. So recently many working moms are figuring out ways to earn toward their family’s bottom line without missing out on most of the family fun.
One smart way that women around the country are taking back their time is through entrepreneurship. If you work for yourself, you set the schedule. You set the rules. You keep the dollars.
Except setting out completely on your own can be a little too risky and a little too demanding.
Franchising continues to prove the best of both worlds for safe entrepreneurship. You get to be your own boss and run your own biz, but you have the support and training of a proven model plus the recognition of an already reputable national brand.
How do you know what franchise is worth your money as a busy mom trying to create some capacity in your work life balance? Do your research of course. The Franchise Business Review just named Rhea Lana’s the #1 Low Cost Retail Franchise in 2019..
Franchise Gator also named Rhea Lana’s a Top 100 Franchise for 2019. Consignment Mommies has ranked four Rhea Lana’s individual franchises in the Top 10 Nationally Ranked Best Consignment Sale.
In the past 9 months, 15 new working moms have decided that their career hours and family hours best match up as Rhea Lana’s franchise owners. They join 90 other women who together own 100+ Rhea Lana’s franchises around the US.
New owner Rebekah Hall of Tulsa shares why owning a Rhea Lana’s is the right choice for her career and her family:
Because of the job I took after college, owning a Rhea Lana’s franchise was not on my radar. However, a franchise in Tulsa came available at the same time as I was transitioning to the role of a stay-at-home mom! So my husband and I prayed about the opportunity and decided that we thought it would be a great thing for our family. I was so excited to be a part of the company and the community of other RL owners.
I love that I get to be a stay-at-home mom while also having a business on the side. I have a personality that like to set goals and achieve, so it’s a great avenue to channel that energy. I also love that it gives me a reason to connect with my community. I truly believe my event is super beneficial to families in Tulsa, so I want people to know about it and be a part of it. I was eight when my mom began her consignment event and I’ve seen how much Rhea Lana’s consignment events have had a positive impact on families. I’m very motivated to pass that blessing on to others by growing awareness in my community of the benefits of consigning at my Rhea Lana’s event.
And Emily, new owner of Chattanooga, echoes:
I have been a consigning momma for over five years now. I tried consigning at all of the different events in my area. But I found that my items sold better and came back in better shape at RL than any other, so I became an exclusive consignor with RL. When the local Rhea Lana’s franchise came up for sale it took me about 5 minutes to decide to pick up where the previous owner left off!
My husband and I have three great kids, but kids come with extra expenses ALWAYS. Our oldest, Zoe, is going deaf. She had to undergo her first cochlear implant surgery this past fall. She will need her second one done in the next two years. Being able to build RL as a side hustle and use the income from that to fund her medical and upcoming college needs is a huge God send!
As crazy as this sounds, having to spend nearly three straight weeks with my husband in an intense setup/sale/breakdown situation was so good for us! We love our children, but we have not had any time where it’s just the two of us since our honeymoon. We were able to spend three weeks together! So Rhea Lana’s is definitely a business that benefits our family in more ways than one.
So okay, you’ve heard it straight from the strategic moms themselves. They love owning Rhea Lana’s and being their own boss. They’re prioritizing their families. They’re earning their keep. And they’re loving every minute of it.
