Fill the Sky with Bubbles for Jacob and all Missing and Exploited Children

We see the horrifying stories on the news, we hear of the Amber Alerts, some help search, and some, unfortunately, wait 27 years to find out the truth of what happened when their child was abducted. This Saturday, Oct. 1, there will be a coast-to-coast bubble blowing to draw attention to missing and exploited children around the world and to honor one sweet angel, Jacob Wetterling.

On Oct. 22, 1989, 11 year old, small town Minnesota boy Jacob Wetterling was abducted.  His disappearance remained a mystery for nearly 27 years. On Sept. 1, 2016, the FBI recovered human remains from a pasture, about 30 miles from the site of the abduction. On Sept. 3, 2016, the family announced the remains were those of Jacob, based on dental records. The location was revealed by Danny Heinrich, a longtime person of interest in the case. On Sept. 6, Heinrich confessed to kidnapping and murdering Wetterling.

Jacob's mom, Patty Wetterling, became a tireless advocate for children just four months after Jacob's disappearance. She was instrumental in passing the Jacob Wetterling Crimes Against Children and Sexually Violent Offenders Registration Act - the National Sex Offender Registry. She also played a significant part in instituting Amber Alerts and now sits on the board of the International Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Many people have never heard of Jacob or Patty; yet, all of our children are safer because of her and her son.

Patty Wetterling is asking people to “say a prayer,” “play with your children” and “create joy” as she and her family continue to grieve. Jacob was always #11 in every sport, and adhered to a list of 11 values that he believed in.  The Minnesota Vikings and their fans recently honored Jacob and the work of Jacob Wetterling Resource Center. Minnesota Governor, Mark Dayton, had the I-35W bridge lit blue for 11 nights. Blue is the color of child abuse prevention. https://www.facebook.com/jacobwetterlingresourcecenter/

There will be a coast-to-coast bubble blowing to honor Jacob, recognize Patty, and continue to draw attention to missing and exploited children around the world. Join Rhea Lana’s and many others October 1, 2016 for a time of filling the sky with bubbles at 4:11 p.m. https://www.facebook.com/events/286715655032896/
