Ten Clothing Trends for Your Little Fashionista for Summer 2015

Sunshine and warmer weather isn’t here yet, but it suddenly feels within reach. Thoughts of splashing in the pool, taking trips, and enjoying Vacation Bible Schools are beginning to fill my mind as my family and I anxiously look forward to summer. And with the change of seasons, I can’t help but look forward to a change in wardrobe too – for me, yes, but especially for my girls, ages 5 and 3. After doing a little research, here are the must-have styles I’ve discovered for little fashionistas this summer.

Maxi dresses. Little girls in long, flowing cotton dresses is as cute as it gets. And the best part is that they are comfortable so your girls will feel as great as they look.

Turbans and head wraps. Nothing is more stylish than a wide, cotton turban or headwrap for your little girl. These are an easy way to add flair to a simple outfit, dressy or casual. Get one with a big bow attached for even more wow-factor.

Vintage floral. Okay, vintage anything. But vintage floral prints are perfect for spring because they are soft, girly and full of flowers, which epitomize the change in seasons. And like I said, anything vintage is in style. You can’t go wrong here.

Mismatched prints. It is now officially okay to match your floral prints with a different floral print or with stripes or polka dots. Clothes don’t need to “match” anymore. They just need to “blend.” Matilda Jane clothing is famous for this style.

Fedoras. Top off your girl’s shorts set, dress or even bathing suit with a fedora and turn an ordinary outfit into a statement.

Retro bathing suits. For a trendy summer suit, you’ll need to travel back circa the 1930’s-40’s. Stylish features include high waisted bottoms, ruched fabric, bows, polka dots, ruffles, and shorts or skirts. (Don’t forget to throw on a turban with your stylish swimwear!)

High-waisted shorts. In keeping with our 1940’s-esque look, high-waisted shorts are an adorable and sophisticated trend for girls.

Rompers. These one-piece outfits are so easy for summer. There’s no hassle, just instant style.

Durable sandals. A pair of quality, thick-soled sandals is a must for every little one. They can be dressed up or down and worn virtually every day of the summer. “Sun San Salt Water Sandals” is a great brand for shoes that are water-resistant, durable, and will go with everything.

Moccasins. For another stylish shoe option, moccasins of every kind and color are all the rage. A variety of brands make baby and children’s moccasins, which can add flair to a dress, shorts set, or pair of leggings.

Of course, the most important part of any little (or big!) girl’s wardrobe is that she feels comfortable and confident in what she’s wearing. Keeping up with the trends isn’t everything, but if your little girl enjoys shopping and getting all dolled up, the two of you could make memories together looking for these pieces and building her wardrobe. Happy shopping!
