Why Consigning is Better Than the Facebook Closet Clean Out!

“Closet Cleanout! Pics in comments. Comment sold and local pickup or ship.”

Okay, I know I can’t be the only one who has seen this post flooding my social media the past few weeks. It’s the start of a new year, which for many people is a time to declutter and reorganize their homes.

I’m totally on board and love this concept – there’s way too many items wasting away in my house that my family no longer needs.

What don’t I love? I don’t love spending hours setting up the items in a perfectly lit room (hiding the mess in the background). I don’t love snapping photos on my phone at the right angle to show the exact color of the item. I don’t love seeing my inbox overflow with questions asking, "Is this Available?" only to be ghosted. I don’t love sorting through dozens of comments to see if my “backup” wants the item after the first person to claim it doesn’t respond to my message. I don’t love meeting up at my local grocery store hoping the person I’m selling my items to is trustworthy - or even shows up.

I’ve done it. I’ve bought and sold on online marketplaces and have found a few steals. But overall, it’s more trouble than it’s worth as a seller and a buyer! Let’s be honest: you’re probably not making even a fraction of what the item is worth.

If you’re still selling items one by one through social media, there’s a simpler alternative out there! If you want to get rid of those used baby clothes with plenty of life left, or the outdoor slide your kids are now taller than, you should be consigning at Rhea Lana’s. The first time I sold my items at this pop-up consignment event, I made over $600 solely on clothes my two kiddos had outgrown!

If you have to do the work of cleaning out closets, you might as well get paid for it! The best way to recoup the cost of outgrown or unused kids’ items are children’s consignment sales hands down. And it’s way easier than you might be thinking!

Dedicated to Declutter?! Start with closets and drawers, then add playrooms, garages, attics, basements, you name it! We suggest tackling one room or area at a time and making 3 piles: KEEP, SELL, DONATE! We only accept high-quality, gently-loved items at our semi-annual events. If you clean and price them well, they're sure to sell. :) Once you prep and price items, you take them to the Rhea Lana's consignment sale near you to earn cash at the end of the event!
