Happy October! I don’t know the weather where you are but it’s time to decorate for fall. If you’re sweating, no worries. If you have a cool autumnal breeze, enjoy it. And of course, either way put your mums out!
We all love a good fall look. Here are some fall front porch looks to achieve on a budget.
1. Pumpkins.
Let’s start with the obvious. October means pumpkins all around. Add in gourds, squashes, and more fall vegetables. Begin by putting a collection of small and large pumpkins on the porch. Later in the month convert the bigger ones into festive Jack-o’-lanterns. Experiment with pumpkins of different colors too: orange, white, gold, and decorative painted designs.
2. Mums are the flower of fall! In bright golden, deep plum, or cheery white. Put your mums into galvanized buckets or large wooden boxes to bring in a fall texture. Try the mums at varying heights to create a fuller look. (I hear Aldi and Costco have hot deals on these right now. Check out your local store to see if they have stock.)
3. Seasonal signs add a homey touch. Script your own design onto a chalkboard backing. Pick up fall signs at any local home décor store. My favorite is a classic fall quote. But a nice welcome to the season is friendly too!
4. Pillows, pillows, and more pillows. On the crisp fresh nights of Autumn you’ll want to be outside enjoying it! So fluff up your patio furniture with some cozy pillows that look great and add comfort to your lifestyle.
5. Go natural! This time of year nature does its thing. The vibrant leaves, the ripe harvest. Easy to see why it’s so many people’s favorite season. Put nature to good work on your front porch. Bring in hay bales, corn stalks, colored leaves, branches, and anything else you can find. Try the corn stalks to line your doorway. Leaves make a great wreath. Haybales are an easy scarecrow perch.
How are you decorating your front porch to invite this welcome new season?
